Our commitments and performance in sustainable development are backed by the following recognitions, certifications and alliances.
DOW JONES SUSTAINABILITY INDEX
Grupo México and Southern Copper Corporation have been included in this index since 2017 and 2019, respectively, and in 2022, are the only Mining and Metals sector companies in the region to be included, as a result of our ongoing improvement in areas such as cybersecurity, water management, closure of operations, and occupational health and safety, among others.
FTSE4Good
Grupo México has also been included in the FTSE Russell FTSE4Good sustainability index since 2019, forming part of the FTSE4Good Emerging Latin America (public companies in the Latin American market) and the FTSE4Good BIVA (public companies in the Mexican market) series.

Each year, we participate in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which assesses 3,400 public companies worldwide and is considered by many stakeholders to be the most complete and reliable ESG assessment in the market, making it a priority for us. CSA scores determine whether a company is included in the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Index).
In 2022, Grupo México and Southern Copper Corporation received scores of 69 points on their assessments (11% and 13% improvements, respectively, over our 2021 scores). Meanwhile, Grupo México Transportes received a score of 43 points (a 7.5% improvement over 2021).
Grupo México and Southern Copper Corporation actively participate in the Sustainalytics assessment and engagement processes in the mining category Diversified Metals.
Grupo México has been submitting the CDP questionnaire on climate change each year since 2016, covering all three Grupo México divisions, including our subsidiaries Grupo México Transportes and Southern Copper Corporation.
Additionally, Grupo México received a “B” rating on our first Water Security questionnaire, aimed primarily at the Mining and Metals sector. In 2023, we submitted both the climate change and water security questionnaires, and for the first time, the questionnaire on forests.
Grupo México has been participating in the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark annual assessment since 2018 in the category extractive companies.
Grupo México submitted the Gender Benchmark questionnaire for the first time in 2022. This tool assesses and compares how companies are driving and promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment across their entire value chain.
