Americas Mining Corporation joins the United Nations Global Compact
Mexico City, October 19th 2022 | Announcement 003/22
In August of this year, Americas Mining Corporation (AMC) was confirmed as a participant in the United Nations Global Compact. This is an active commitment to accelerate sustainability efforts and increase AMC’s positive impact.
With this participation, AMC reaffirms its interest in aligning its policies, strategies, and operations with the Ten Universal Principles of the Global Compact, which encompass issues related to human rights, labor rights, the environment, and anti-corruption.
AMC’s mining operations focus on responsible and transparent management in the social, economic, and environmental spheres, as well as the development of high shared-value projects that make significant contributions to the economic and social development of the communities and regions where it operates.
AMC’s adherence to the Global Compact adds to its sustained progress in global assessments related to transparency and the implementation of best environmental, social, and governance practices, such as the increasing attainment of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications at its mining units and the initiation of the process to obtain the Copper Mark at La Caridad Mine and the Metallurgical Complex, both located in Sonora, Mexico.
By joining the Global Compact, AMC becomes part of the world’s most important corporate sustainability initiative, which aims to drive corporate contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals, the 2030 Agenda, and the Paris Agreement. As an exercise in transparency, our subsidiary, Americas Mining Corporation, will periodically share its progress with the United Nations.
